Daniel Rich is a Senior Nuclear Safety Consultant at Talisman with over 30 years of regulatory, operational, and safety experience at nuclear power plants and nuclear fuel facilities. As a consultant Mr. Rich has assisted clients such as Westinghouse, SFL, KNF, and KINS with root cause analyses and with regulatory program development for foreign regulators.
Prior to joining Talisman, Mr. Rich was a Branch Chief in both the Division of Reactor Projects and the Division of Fuel Facility Inspection in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) Region II office. His broad background in nuclear safety includes assignments in oversight of both nuclear reactor and nuclear fuel sites, as well as strong international experience. Mr. Rich began his career with ten years of service as a U.S. Navy Submarine Officer where he had extensive experience in new construction, reactor operation, and operator training.
Mr. Rich has a thorough knowledge of the operational and engineering applications used at nuclear power plants and has demonstrated experience in identifying and analyzing potential safety significant issues for both boiling water and pressurized water reactors. He has extensive experience at implementation of the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) and is an experienced inspector of reactor operation, equipment testing, engineering, and maintenance. Mr. Rich led regulatory oversight efforts at both high-enriched and low-enriched uranium fuel facilities and is knowledgeable in application of NRC rules and regulations for nuclear fuel facilities. He has broad experience in investigation of allegations and review of safety culture at nuclear facilities.
Mr. Rich received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
