John Stang is a Nuclear Regulatory Consultant to Talisman. He has 40 years of experience in nuclear power plant licensing, safety and technical assessment, having spent much of his career at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). His experience includes the examination and resolution of all types of licensing matters affecting a variety of nuclear power plants, particularly as related to plant systems.
Mr. Stang has an extensive knowledge and understanding of NRC licensing, having served almost 30 years as a Senior Project Manager in NRC’s Division of Licensing and Project Management, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). He has managed the processes, reviews and analyses involved in numerous licensing actions related to a wide variety of nuclear power plant issues. Many of his assignments involved plants that were in long term shutdown due to poor performance. Early in his career he was involved in licensing matters affecting nuclear power plants constructed in the 1960s, resolving many design and technical issues using the Systematic Evaluation Program (SEP), which was developed to review the integrity of the initial reviews conducted by the NRC.
Mr. Stang received a B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland.
