Joseph N. Jensen

Joe Jensen is a Senior Nuclear Safety Consultant at Talisman.  With 40-years of experience in Nuclear Power Operations, Management and Executive Leadership, he is able to provide clients with valuable insights on their gaps to excellence and the drivers that are causal to those gaps. He then works with clients to develop effective mitigating and long-term strategies to close the gaps while providing a framework for continuous improvement.

Prior to starting his consulting firm, Mr. Jensen was Vice President, Fleet Technical Support for NextEra Energy’s (NEE) Nuclear Plants.  He was responsible for Governance and Oversight of the line Functional areas.  He was also responsible for the Fleet and Site Engineering organizations as well as the Organizational Effectiveness team.  He began his tenure with NEE in April 2011 as Vice President, Nuclear Operations – North Region and helped lead the Extended Power Uprates at six NEE plants.

Mr. Jensen has served as Chief Nuclear Officer at Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) where he helped establish the operational structure for the UAE’s Civil Nuclear Power Program. Prior to joining ENEC, he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer at American Electric Power (AEP) where he also previously served as the Site Vice President at D.C. Cook and separately, Vice President of Engineering. Prior to joining AEP, Mr. Jensen was the Plant General Manager at the Point Beach Nuclear Station.  He began his civilian nuclear career at the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Station where he held leadership positions in Operations, Training, Work Management, Outages and Engineering.

Mr. Jensen holds a Senior Reactor Operator license and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Program.  He earned a B.S. degree in Management from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and completed the Senior Nuclear Executive Course at MIT and the Leader Development Program at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
