Bill Bateman is a Nuclear Safety Consultant to Talisman. He has 43 years of experience in various aspects of the nuclear power industry including more than 29 years in the federal regulation of commercial nuclear power plants and 14 years in power plant design, construction, testing, and maintenance. Before joining Talisman, he was employed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in various management positions including Deputy Division Director of the Division of Component Integrity, Branch Chief of the Materials and Chemical Engineering Branch and Project Director for several Region IV plants. In these positions he was involved with materials and chemical engineering issues, licensing activities and plant performance evaluation. He also served as the Senior Resident Inspector at both new construction and operating plants. In the private sector, Mr. Bateman worked as supervisor of construction and preoperational testing, as resident engineer for an offgas and radwaste building addition project, as a fluid systems design engineer, and as a senior test engineer. Mr. Bateman has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and has taken graduate-level courses in Ocean Engineering at the University of Rhode Island.
