Walt Rogers is a Nuclear Safety Consultant at Talisman with over 35 years of experience in the nuclear power industry, mostly in the regulation of power reactors. Prior to retiring from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2011, he was an NRC-Certified Senior Reactor Analyst in Region II. Mr. Rogers is also a Certified NRC Inspector for BWRs, PWRs, and Incident Investigations. During his 31 years of service at the NRC, he also served as Team Leader of Regional Inspections in Region II and as a Resident and Senior Resident Inspector at three plants in Region III.
Mr. Rogers has a thorough knowledge of the operational, maintenance and engineering practices used at nuclear power plants and has demonstrated experience in identifying and analyzing potential safety significant issues for BWR and PWR reactors. As a risk analyst with experience in the NRC Significance Determination Process (SDP) within the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), he performed hundreds of individual SDPs. He is an experienced inspector of equipment testing, engineering, maintenance, operations activities, and facility management; such as quality assurance and administrative controls. He has performed these inspections independently and in team settings. Inspections of this nature require a thorough understanding of NRC rules, regulations, and procedures for the administration and enforcement of licensee activities at operating nuclear power plants. His knowledge and skills have been used by utilities to perform various assessments of nuclear power plant performance.
Mr. Rogers holds a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Mississippi State University.
