Zelig Falevits is a Nuclear Safety Consultant at Talisman. He has over 40 years of experience in the nuclear power industry, focused primarily on electrical engineering, fire protection, and corrective actions relating to the design, construction, testing, operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants. Mr. Falevits retired from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2012 where he served as a Senior Electrical Engineer and Inspection and Team Leader in NRC’s Region III Division of Reactor Safety. He is a very experienced Team Leader and Certified NRC Operations and Construction Inspector. Mr. Falevits has led numerous Engineering, Fire Protection, Modifications/10CFR 50.59, Maintenance and other NRC Special Team Inspections and participated in 95001 and 95003, IMC-0350, and other complex inspections. He is trained in BWR and PWR technologies. Prior to his service with the NRC, he worked for several large U.S. engineering firms as an electrical design engineer.
Mr. Falevits possesses a thorough knowledge of the engineering, operational, and maintenance activities at nuclear power plants and has demonstrated experience in identifying and analyzing potential safety significant issues for BWR and PWR reactors. He is extensively trained to observe, review, assess and report on engineering, maintenance and operations activities, equipment testing, and facility management, such as quality assurance/verification, design control and administrative controls. He has a thorough understanding of NRC rules, regulations, and procedures for the administration, inspection and enforcement of licensee activities for operating nuclear plants, as well as those under construction license per 10 CFR Part 52.
Mr. Falevits received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
